Detailed report of the spokesman of
the Funeral Committee concerning the funeral Ceremony for the
deceased General Choi Hong Hi, President of the International
Taekwon-Do Federation.
It is a great sorrow and loss that Gen. Choi, Founder
of Taekwon-Do, leader and Father of all Taekwon-Doists, passed
away at 8:35pm on the 15th of June in Pyongyang, D.P.R Korea.
The Government of D.P.R of Korea organized the funeral committee
consisted of 14 members including the Chief Cadres of Government,
Mr Chang Ung, the member of the I.O.C and Mr Hwang Pong Yong,
president of the Korean Taekwon-Do committee with Mr Choi Tae
Bok Chairman of the supreme People's Assembly, Cabinet, the Governmental
organizations and several associations.
Over 1500 people visited for respect to the deceased Gen. Choi
and his family, including Mr Kim Yong Nam, Chairman of the Presidium
of the Supreme People's Assembly and the numerous cadres of high
ranks in the government, the chief members of the social organizations,
the ambassadors of several countries and the representatives of
International organizations in D.P.R of Korea, the foreign delegations
and the delegations of the Koreans from abroad, the Taekwon-Do
trainers of foreign countries and the instructors of the Korean
Taekwon-Do Committee.
Condolatory letters from presidents of national Taekwon-Do associations
in the International Taekwon-Do Federation, the high degree holders
and the students count up to over 800 and it has now been sent
to Pyongyang.
Gen Choi's coffin was carried out at 15:00 on the 17th of June.
The remains of General Choi were buried in the patriotic Martyrs'
cemetery in Pyongyang for his exploits in the field of Taekwon-Do
and martial art.
It was decided by the Korean Taekwon-Do committee to set the 22nd
of September as the 100th day funeral ceremony to cherish the
memory of the merits established by Gen Choi, president of the
IT who devoted his whole life to Taekwon-Do, as was agreed with
the family of the deceased and the delegation of the ITF who visited
Pyongyang.
We are sure that all of you, the sons and daughters of Taekwon-Do
and the faithful students who have followed the founder of Taekwon-Do
will come to Pyongyang on 22nd September for the 100th day funeral
ceremony.
Although Gen Choi passed away, we are convinced
that the tens of millions of Taekwon-Doists will firmly unite
to strengthen and develop ITF upholding the testament of Gen Choi
Hong Hi
May you sleep in peace, the everlasting founder of Taekwon-Do
praying for the repose of the deceased.
